Internship Information for Companies

You are invited...
...to participate in our Internship Program

Our program offers you the services of a junior or senior business major who will work for a company for at least 100 hours each semester. The intern may circulate among different areas in an organization or receive in-depth exposure in one area or department.

Your intern can help you complete a special project or stay on top of a heavy workload. Your intern will be someone eager to work for you -- someone who wants to gain the experience you have to offer.

What will you have to do as an intern sponsor? First, you will be asked to establish "Learning Objectives" which outline what the intern will do or learn while working for you. Second, you will be asked to provide supervision for the student and to complete two evaluations of the student's performance, once at the mid-point of the assignment or semester and again at the end of the assignment. The rate of pay and the specific work schedule are decided by you and the student. We ask that you be flexible and allow the student to set work hours around his or her class schedule. You will be expected to adhere to the non-discrimination policies followed by Missouri Western State College.

The student will receive academic credit for the internship, and the grade is recorded on the student's regular transcript. The grade is based on the quality of the student's performance in the work assignment and on the quality of the work the student submits to our department in conjunction with the internship.
