Holly's Heavenly Brownies
This recipe was given to me by my friend Holly Hauschild. Who in turn got the recipe from somewhere? All I can say is yummie.
Ingredients:
1 cup butter,
3 ½ oz unsweetened chocolate bar,
3 Tablespoons dark unsweetened cocoa ,
1 ½ cup flour,
1 teaspoon salt,
½ teaspoon baking powder,
4 eggs ,
2 cups sugar,
1 teaspoon vanilla extract,
1 cup chocolate chips.
Prep work, Melt butter and chocolate in a double boiler. (for those unfamiliar ...get a saucepan of water and boil it...then while boiling place a metal bowl on top. Melt the butter and chocolate inside the bowl...thus not burning either. Be careful about pressure under the bowl). When melted set aside. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa , flour, baking powder and salt. Preheat the oven to 350 F
Cooking
In a Large mixing bowl beat eggs until creamy then add sugar. Add vanilla and cooled chocolate-butter mix. Stir in the dry sifted ingredients. Get it to a nice consistency....think of chocolate goo. Spread the goo into a 9''x13'' pan. Sprinkle the chocolate chips on top of the batter. Bake for 30 min, and remove.
Holly recommends Ghirardelli cocoa and chocolate or higher end chocolate.
I recommend that you get some vanilla ice cream and then eating some of the brownies as soon as it comes out of the oven. These are the best brownies I have ever experienced. If you bring these babies to a party then people are going to think your a star, especially when you say that they are not from a packet. Alternatively this is the perfect way to win over someone that won't expect you capable of cooking. Also these surprisingly taste well with beer also!
I hope you enjoy.
