Center for Economic Education

Responsible for developing and implementing courses, workshops, seminars, etc. that assist in developing teacher understanding to improve the teaching of economics.  Responsible for writing and seeking grants to cover the costs of developing education programs for the area schools.  Annual budget exceeded $10,000 per year.

Success of the program measured by the improved scores on the Missouri BEST test and the Missouri MMAT tests in social studies.  Through activities of the Center, teachers in Northwest Missouri were introduced to programs as Trade-offs, Minisociety, Exchange City.

Success of the program was recognized when the St. Joseph Public Schools and the MWSC Center for Economic Education received the DEEP Award [Developmental Economic Education Program].  The award is reserved for the ten exemplary economic education programs within the United States.
